KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (abbreviated from Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij) is the Dutch national airline headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Although KLM merged with Air France in 1994 to create Air France-KLM, the third largest airline in the world (largest in Europe) in terms of passengers transported, both airlines continue to maintain their own distinct identities. KLM operates domestic and worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to over 150 destinations in Africa, Asia, North and South America and Europe. Some of the major destinations served by KLM include Cairo, Lagos, Johannesburg Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, Frankfurt, Oslo, Montreal, Mexico City, New York, Quito and Lima. The airline maintains a major hub at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
